Think Before Parking.
If
you should park in a disabled bay
When sound in wind and limb, with Grandma’s badge,
The theft is double – you can afford to pay –
Disabled folk aren’t paid, not on the cadge –
I challenge you to try a day wheel chair
-bound, with jobs, shop shelves out of reach-
You’d soon see that ‘disabled’ don’t mean ‘fair’
Like access to the sea or sandy beach;
Theatre trips? In through the fire escape!
Access to live by staircases denied.
I’d work, but who’d employ? Live, on the state?
A wheelchair life is not an easy ride;
So, when I struggle out to do my shop
Don’t be the bastard in my parking spot.
