Do Witches Wear Pink Socks?

My mum says dad's mum is a witch,
But do witches wear pink socks
And send presents?
Now, when presents come
Mum puts them in a box -
The bitch box -
She says I'm not to open it. Why not?
Maybe there's a spell on them -
That's silly - there's only a smell on them
Of lavender that gran keeps in her chest of drawers.

Besides, gran doesn't look like a witch
Not like in the Harry Potter film,
No broomstick, no pointy hat,
But cable stitch sweaters and cord trousers.
She did bring magic bubble mix once
When we made super space capsules
That vanished into warp speed
From the summer garden.

I don't understand grown-ups.
They do such stupid things.
It was better before
When mum would phone gran every day
She'd wear dad's rings
Clean the house when dad's mum came to see us.
Before dad left us,
And dad's mum turned into a witch.
